The World Cup 2023 Schedule is set to be delayed further. In the 11th hour, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) asked for the PAK vs ENG game to be rescheduled. The match was initially set to be played on November 12, but a request was made citing inadequate security due to Diwali celebrations.

Kali Puja is celebrated with great pomp in Kolkata and the festival is set for November 12, the same day as the PAK vs ENG game. Thus, Kolkata Police will have fewer resources to call upon to provide security cover for the World Cup game.

The World Cup Schedule is already at crossroads. The IND vs PAK match at Ahmedabad was moved a day ahead from October 15 due to Navratri celebrations. The PAK vs ENG game will be the third game for Pakistan Cricket Team that would be changed from their original schedule. Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has been moved from October 12 to October 10.

The World Cup schedule was already delayed compared to previous editions. While ECB and CA gave a yer’s notice, BCCI only had 3 months left for the tournament opener. Now, there are going to further changes in the timetable.
