With Rohit, Jaiswal, Iyer unavailable, Mumbai to include Suryakumar & Dube for Ranji Trophy QF

Suryakumar Yadav has played just one innings in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, making 7 runs in that appearance.

Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20 skipper, and all-rounder Shivam Dube confirmed their availability for the pivotal match in Lahli, giving Mumbai a major boost ahead of their quarter-final match against Haryana in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals. Mumbai needed reinforcements because important players like Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer will be playing in the IND vs ENG ODI series and getting ready for the ICC Champions Trophy. Mumbai have no dearth of talent and Yadav and Dube’s participation proves exactly that.

Suryakumar Yadav to play for Mumbai!

Despite a lean run in the recent T20I series against England, SKY’s presence will add experience and firepower to the Mumbai batting lineup. He has played one Ranji match this season but has primarily been occupied with national duties, representing India in multiple formats. Meanwhile, Dube, who featured in Mumbai’s league match against Jammu & Kashmir and later earned an India recall, has regained confidence after scoring a crucial fifty in the T20I series.

A source within the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed their availability to the Indian Express: “Yadav and Dube have informed us that they are available for the quarter-finals. The selection committee will meet soon and pick a squad for the same.”

Mumbai’s Record-Breaking march to QF

Mumbai stormed into the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals with a historic victory over Meghalaya, crushing them by an innings and 456 runs at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). This dominant performance marked Mumbai’s biggest-ever Ranji Trophy win and the third-largest innings win in tournament history.

Shardul Thakur led the bowling onslaught, taking a stunning first-innings hat-trick as Meghalaya collapsed for just 86 runs. Thakur finished with four wickets, while Royston Avasthi and Sylvester D’Souza also played key roles. In reply, Mumbai declared at a mammoth 671/7, powered by centuries from Siddesh Lad (145), Akash Anand (103), and Shams Mulani (100*). Thakur showcased his all-round ability with a blazing 84 off 42 balls.

Meghalaya’s second innings fared no better, as Thakur and Tanush Kotian dismantled their lineup, securing Mumbai’s passage to the knockouts with a bonus-point victory. Finishing second in Group A with 29 points, Mumbai now face Haryana in a high-stakes quarter-final starting February 8.
