With ‘limited no of ODI World Cup 2023 tickets’ on BookMyShow, Fans are suffering most

Pre-sale of ODI World Cup 2023 tickets for India matches sold out swiftly on BookMyShow, starting August 31. BookMyShow explained rapid ticket sell-out due to high fan demand and limited availability of tickets.

The ODI World Cup 2023 ticket pre-sale for three India matches, which began on Thursday, saw all tickets snapped up within minutes. The ticket sales for India vs Australia, India vs Bangladesh, and India vs Afghanistan, commenced in different phases starting at 8 pm on Thursday, August 31. The tickets were quickly sold out within a matter of minutes after becoming available on the BookMyShow platform. This left numerous fans disappointed, prompting them to express their frustration on Twitter.

Similar issues were encountered during the ODI World Cup 2023 ticket sales on August 29, which were exclusively for MasterCard users. Those who clicked on the booking option either encountered a message or were placed in a queue for extended periods, often lasting 3 to 4 hours. Later in the day, BookMyShow provided an explanation, attributing the swift sell-out to an overwhelming response from fans. They clarified that a limited number of tickets were made available, leading to their rapid depletion.

On the day prior, the advance ticket sales for a pair of warm-up matches involving India were met with a varied reaction. These tickets were made available for purchase on Wednesday. The warm-up match pitting India against England experienced a swift sell-out within a few hours, highlighting the keen interest from fans. In contrast, tickets for the alternate warm-up fixture involving Netherlands are still accessible, indicating that availability remains for this particular match.

The BCCI had organized the ticket sales for users who were not using MasterCard in a phase-wise approach. The ticket sales were divided into various phases, outlined as follows.

  • India matches at Guwahati and Trivandrum: August 30 from 8 PM IST onwards.
  • India matches at Chennai, Delhi and Pune: August 31 from 8 PM IST onwards.
  • India matches at Dharamsala, Lucknow and Mumbai: September 1 from 8 PM IST onwards.
  • India matches at Bengaluru and Kolkata: September 2 from 8 PM IST onwards.
  • India match at Ahmedabad: September 3 from 8 PM IST onwards.
