Jasprit Bumrah's availability to bowl on Day 3 of IND vs AUS 5th Test in Sydney will be decided based on how he feels on Sunday morning

Jasprit bumrah suffered an injury scare on Day 2 of IND vs AUS 5th Test in Sydney as he was forced to undergo scans midway through the game. His teammate Prasidh Krishna later on revealed that the Indian captain had suffered a back spasm and that he was being monitored by the medical team. While an official update from the BCCI’s medical team is awaited, a report has shed light on his availability on Day 3 of the contest.

As per Cricbuzz, the decision on if Bumrah will bowl in India’s 2nd innings will be taken on Sunday morning, based on how the pacer feels. He bagged the first wicket of the day on Day 2, getting rid of Marnus Labuschagne. He only bowled one over in the second session of the play before walking off the field. Later, he was seen leaving the SCG to undergo scans following which he returned as India were batting in their 2nd innings.

Bumrah has been India’s leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In fact, he is also the side’s most overworked pacer, having bowled 151.2 overs in the IND vs AUS Test series. Meanwhile, India will resume batting on Day 3 at 141/6, with Jadeja and Washington Sundar aiming to extend India’s lead. After a good start from openers Jaiswal and KL Rahul, India witnessed yet another batting collapse barring a whirlwind knock from Rishabh Pant.

In the 1st innings, Siraj and Prasidh Krishna managed to overcome Bumrah’s absence to bowl out Australia for 181 runs. Apart from bowling the most overs for India, Bumrah has also been the leading wicket-taker for the side in the ongoing series.
