Faf du Plessis injury update

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, DC coach Mott said that du Plessis was due to get assessed by the physios on Wednesday. He pointed out that DC had enjoyed a good break which had perhaps helped Faf recover.

He certainly looks like he’s moving a lot better from the naked eye without having a good look at him. So, if he is available or not, I think we can adapt, given the depth we have in our team,” Mott said.

In the absence of du Plessis, Rahul was promoted to the top-order. He aced his role as the opener in the game against CSK with a 77s-run knock.

He’s a key player for us, but what it did show is the depth that we’ve got and the players’ ability to adapt and come in there. I thought KL [Rahul] in the last game was amazing to come in at short notice and play an innings like that to really set us up for the win,” Mott added.
