The two-match Test series is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2021 – 2023. Bangladesh started the year by defeating New Zealand in a Test match and leveling the series against them at their own backyard. However, after that, they faced a 0-2 defeat against South Africa. After having faced four defeats in their last five Test matches, Skipper Mominul Haque stepped down of from captaincy. Veteran Shakib al Hasan will now lead the visitors in the upcoming series.

Bangladesh will be without the services of Mushfiqur Rahim, who decided to skip this series and go on a Hajj pilgrimage. Meanwhile pacers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam are out injured. They will also miss the services of batsman Yasir Ali, who has been ruled out due to back injury.

The visitors will however be bolstered with the addition of Mustafizur Rahman who will be playing a Test match after nearly a year. Opener Tamim Iqbal too looks in fine touch with the bat after the warm-up matches and he is gearing up to lead the batting department. Former skipper Mominul Haque will look to return back to form without the pressure of captaincy and Litton Das too has to score big in the series.

Meanwhile, Kraigg Brathwaite’s West Indies are looking to continue their impressive home run after defeating England 1-0 in the three match Test series recently. They have a well-sorted line up with Brathwaite leading the batting department. He will have Jermaine Blackwood, Nkrumah Bonner and Kyle Mayers who can provide him a solid support. Wicket-keeper Joshua Da Silva is also a man to watch out for after a solid performance against England, where he was the player of the series.

In the pace bowling department, Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales form a potent duo while they also have the uncapped Anderson Phillip. Kemar Roach’s fitness is a bit of a concern and he is doubtful for the first Test.
