Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the Duleep Trophy 2024, missing the first round on September 2. India’s newly appointed T20I captain, a fan favorite in domestic tournaments, was named in the India C squad for the competition, which begins on September 5.
This tournament was crucial for Suryakumar as he aims to secure a spot in India’s Test team. A strong performance in the Duleep Trophy could have bolstered his case for the IND vs. BAN series.
Why is Suryakumar Yadav not playing Duleep Trophy?
Suryakumar Yadav sustained a hand injury during Mumbai’s preseason match at the Buchi Babu tournament in Coimbatore last week. He is currently undergoing a standard evaluation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after being advised to rest.

Following the squad announcement, he became the fourth player to be ruled out, joining Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, and Ravindra Jadeja. Suryakumar Yadav’s replacement has not yet been revealed.
