The Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Super League recently handed a one-year ban to South African cricketer Corbin Bosch due to him withdrawing his participation from the PSL 2025 franchise league despite being named in the first draft. Bosch and PSL have been under a chaotic few rounds since the 30-year-old pulled out of the franchise league to join Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians to play in IPL 2025.
Why Corbin Bosch is not playing PSL 2025?
Bosch, initially selected as a diamond pick for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL draft, opted to join the Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for South African pacer Lizaad Williams in the IPL 2025. With the IPL and PSL schedules overlapping for the first time, Bosch chose the IPL over the PSL. Consequently, the Pakistan Cricket Board and PSL authorities reviewed the matter and imposed a one-year ban on him.
“To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am truly sorry for letting you down. I take full responsibility for my actions, and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the PSL. This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans,” Bosch’s statement said.
The PSL and PCB imposed the ban on Bosch as a precautionary measure to prevent similar incidents in the future. Despite the PSL draft taking place well after the IPL mega auction to avoid overlap in player commitments, Bosch ultimately chose the Mumbai Indians over Peshawar Zalmi, prioritizing his career development.
