There is hardly any doubt that Rajasthan Royals, along with Kolkata Knight Riders, have been the two best teams in IPL 2024. After RR’s loss to Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, both teams now have 16 points from 11 matches. But still, KKR tops the IPL points table with a superior NRR. However, despite a solid showing, neither KKR, nor RR have made it to the playoffs.
How Can Rajasthan Royals Enter Playoffs?
RR have all but qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs, since they sit pretty on 16 points already with three more matches to go. A win against their next opponents, CSK on May 12, PBKS on May 15, and KKR on May 19 win seal the deal. But, believe it or not, there is also a very slight possibility that RR don’t go through.
Worst-case Scenario for Rajasthan Royals
Consider this. If RR finish on 16 points, and lose their next three matches, there is a chance that they don’t go through. That would only happen if KKR win one of their matches and goes to 18, and then CSK, SRH and DC win their respective remaining matches, also go on 18. That scenario could be disastrous for RR, and could also end their campaign in the league stages itself.
