Mumbai Indians registered a mammoth 99-run win against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, securing their 2nd win in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). The one-time champions & hosts were no match for Hardik Pandya and co. as they were bowled out for just 100 runs, suffering a shocking collapse. MI, who were reeling at the rock bottom of the IPL 2026 points table, received a much-needed boost with the win, as they finally returned to winning ways and moved up in the standings.
Tilak Varma slams maiden IPL century
Batting first, the Mumbai Indians posted a total of 199/ in 20 overs, out of which Tilak Varma alone scored 101 runs. Coming out to bat at number 5, the star middle-order batter started his innings on a very slow note, managing to score just 19 runs from 22 deliveries. Just when it was starting to look like he will be retired out like how he had been earlier against LSG for his slow-paced knock, he flipped the switch and stepped on the gas.
Varma scored 82 runs off the next 23 deliveries to race to his maiden IPL century. He struck 8 fours and 7 sixes as he finished with 101 runs to his name from 45 deliveries. The only other notable contribution that came from the MI line-up was Naman Dhir’s 45.

Gujarat Titans collapse
Ashwani Kumar was the star of the show for MI as he rattled GT’s batting line-up by picking up 4 wickets while conceding just 24 runs in his 4 overs. Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Sai Sudharsan for a golden duck, drawing first blood. Hardik Pandya wasted very little time and joined the party by dismissing Jos Buttler in the second over of the run chase. Thereafter, GT captain Gill attempted to steady the ship for the side but couldn’t last for long.
Ashwani tore through GT’s middle-order to trigger a collapse. Allah Ghazanfar and Mitchell Santner picked 2 wickets each as GT were bundled out for just 100 runs.
