Who will decide Babar Azam’s captaincy call? PCB chief Zaka Ashraf reveals details

Not just PCB chief Zaka Ashraf, who will decide Babar Azam's captaincy stint after World Cup? Check Out

Babar Azam’s captaincy stint will be decided after the conclusion of the ICC World Cup 2023. But it will not be the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf who alone takes the call. On the contrary, it will be the Technical Committee’s decision whether Babar Azam will continue to lead the Pakistan Cricket Team.

Babar Azam’s captaincy came under the scanner after Pakistan’s poor performance in the ongoing Cricket World Cup. Though the Men in Green have a chance of making it to the semi-finals, Pakistan will have to put up good scores and win their game by a huge margin to make it to the top 4.

PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf addressed the media where he claimed that Babar Azam’s captaincy call would not be his own. Rather it will be that of the full technical committee that consists of Misbah-ul-Haq

“It is not my decision, there is a full technical committee in which Misbah-ul-Haq and Hafeez are present. We will move forward based on their advice. This decision is not the chairman’s alone; we will proceed based on the consultation of technical experts who are also cricketers,” Zaka Ashraf said.

“Babar Azam is a great captain and a very good player. We pray that he succeeds and brings a trophy for Pakistan,” he concluded.
