Young pacer Raj Limbani bowled an incisive spell to record brilliant figures of 7/13 as India cruised to a 10-wicket victory over Nepal in IND U19 vs NEP U19 to clinch a semi-final berth in ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2023 in Dubai on Tuesday. Thanks to his effort with the ball, Limbani was also named in the Indian squad for the upcoming U-19 World Cup to be played in South Africa next year.
Raj Limbani is a lanky 18-year-old right-armer from Baroda. He primarily bowls inswingers at mid 120s and his talent was on full display on Tuesday as he didn’t let any of the Nepali batters settle down and pitched it up, getting sufficient movement. Limbani gave away just 13 runs in 9.1 overs before scalping seven wickets. As a result, Nepal was bundled out for 52 in 22.1 overs in their last Group A fixture of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup.
Notably, the talented pacer went wicketless in the match against Pakistan, but picked three wickets for 46 runs in the opening fixture against Afghanistan U-19. To note, Limbani is currently second on the most wickets list in the ongoing tournament. He has scalped 10 wickets in three games with an average of 10.30.
Speaking about the U-19 Asia Cup, India ended on second spot in Group A with 4 points in 3 matches. The Men in Blue began their Asia Cup campaign with a win over Afghanistan before facing an 8-wicket defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan topped the group with 3 wins in 3 games.
