It came as a surprise to many when Mumbai Indians raised their hand in the IPL 2025 mega auction for Afghanistan teenage spinner Allah Ghazanfar. But who is he?

All eyes were on Mumbai Indians when they went for teenage Afghanistan spinner Allah Ghazanfar in the IPL 2025 mega auction day 2. Not to forget, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru also fought for him, but MI stunned everyone by securing him for Rs. 4.80 crore. Last year, Ghazanfar was with KKR but didn’t play a single match. However, things are expected to turn around this time.

Who is Allah Ghazanfar

If we look at the current situation, he will now be with MI under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy and is surely one of the specialist spinners in MI’s camp. Ghazanfar is from Paktia Province, Afghanistan, this Afghanistan talent hasn’t made his T20I debut yet but has already played in ODIs. He made a name for himself in leagues, having played 16 T20 matches so far in his career, taking 29 wickets with two four-wicket hauls. The teenager has also played eight ODIs and picked up 12 wickets at an economy rate of 4.36. Earlier this month, Ghazanfar tormented the Bangladesh batting lineup in the first ODI of the three-match series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. He claimed figures of 6.3-1-26-6 and was named Player of the Match after Afghanistan won by 92 runs. Now, this young player is all set to make his name in the IPL.
