For CSK, the equation was clear—they needed to score at least 201 runs to qualify. The five-time IPL champions, however, struggled to cope with the pressure and the electrifying atmosphere at RCB’s home ground. Their chase began poorly, losing two early wickets for just 19 runs. A crucial 66-run stand between Rachin Ravindra (61) and Ajinkya Rahane (33) revived CSK’s hopes, stabilizing the innings.

As the match entered its final over, CSK required 17 runs to qualify. MS Dhoni, the iconic finisher, faced Yash Dayal in a tense contest. Dhoni launched the first delivery for a massive six but was outfoxed by a cleverly disguised slower ball on the next. Yash Dayal held his nerve, ensuring a 27-run victory for RCB, which secured their playoff berth.

Unfortunately for RCB, their campaign ended in disappointment as they were eliminated by Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator round. The match, nonetheless, showcased the intensity of the IPL and the resilience of both teams.
