IND vs WI LIVE – 2nd T20 LIVE: All-rounder Jason Holder had missed the first T20I after being hit on the chest during a practice session on Tuesday. West Indies struggled in his absence with middle overs scoring getting extremely difficult, with the visitors playing as many as 62 dot balls. The bowling, led by Romario Shepherd and Odean Smith lacked the experience to defend a relatively small total and Holder’s return should theoretically solve those problems for Kieron Pollard’s side.
While an official update on Jason Holder is yet to be out, vice-captain Nicholas Pooran reckons that the all-rounder should be back for the IND vs WI 2nd T20 on Friday. Speaking after the game, Pooran said, “Jason Holder seems fine, he should be ready for the next game. I do not know the details of his niggle, so I cannot say about that.”
Rest assured, West Indies are likely to continue with their “hit at all costs” approach, with batting depth up to No.10 in an explosive line-up. Mayers’ will hope to consolidate his spot as an opener in the side, while the likes Pollard, Pooran and Holder expected to do the heavy lifting in the middle overs. West Indies had a lot of firepower waiting in the wings as their players struggled in the middle overs, and Pollard and Co. will aim to correct that error on Friday.
