“We will abide…” – BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla on India travelling to Pakistan for ICC Champions Trophy

India had last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t changed its stance. The only way the Indian cricket team can travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is if the government allows them to. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was asked the question in a press conference at the Kanpur Stadium, and he stated that the cricket board will abide by whatever the government’s decision is.

“No decision has been taken on it. Our policy is that for international tours, we always seek permission from the government. It’s up to the government to decide whether or not our team should go to any country. Whatever the government will decide, we will abide by that,” Shukla told reporters.

No deadline by the ICC

Rajeev Shukla also revealed that no deadline for confirming Team India’s travel plans has been given to them by the International Cricket Council (ICC). A tentative schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025 has been created. The mega-event is supposed to start on February 19 in Karachi, and the final will be played in Lahore on March 9.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been pushing the ICC to finalise the schedule for the event, but they are yet to do so. The PCB feels that they’ll be able to make logistical arrangements to the best of their abilities for the ICC Champions Trophy if the schedule is finalised.
