Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad played out a sensational game with the latter clinching a 2-run win. Shashank Singh yet again stood strong to help PBKS put up a massive fight in the game. Despite being on the losing side, he has praised his fellow partner Ashutosh Sharma for a mindboggling innings.
The PBKS vs SRH encounter saw the hosts needing 29 runs from the last over. Ashutosh Sharma who was on strike, managed to hit the ball beyond the ropes multiple times, eventually fell short by 2 runs.
Shashank Lavishes Praises for Ashutosh
“Losing a game is disheartening, because we play to win. A loss is a loss, be it by 2 runs or 20 runs. Huge credit to Ashutosh. We both had the belief that we could win it. If 29 runs are needed, the bowler needs to bowl that 1 good ball, which Jaydev did,” said Shashank Singh after the game.
Batting first Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to pile up 182 runs on the board. Young Nitish Kumar Reddy stole the headlines with his blistering 64 run knock from 37 balls. Punjab Kings fought back hard with an unbeaten knock from Shashank’s 46 from 25 and Ashutosh’s 33 from 15.
Match Simulations – Key for PBKS
Shashank yet again emphasised how match simulations have played a vital role in IPL 2024. The duo have often been tasked to chase down big scores in the 4-5 overs. Since both are the designated finishers in the team, they have developed a nice understanding of each other’s game.
“We have done multiple match simulations. Before the tournament, in our pre tournament camp, we were given multiple scenarios in terms of chasing. We always have the belief, it was there in the previous game as was for this game,” Shashank concluded.
