‘We are missing out on Sarfaraz Khan’- DK pushes for inclusion of domestic giant in Tests

Sarfaraz Khan has an average of over 71 in 41 first-class matches and is riding high on confidence.

It was yet again a poor performance by the Indian batsmen in South Africa, as they lost by an innings and 32 runs. Their troubles against the fast bowlers were apparent as India was bundled out for 132, with Virat Kohli scoring 70 plus. With this, India’s hopes of winning their first-ever series in South Africa are also dashed.

While there were many failures in the match, Shubman Gill’s struggle in Tests continued, and experts have now started questioning his place. IN the 35 Test innings so far, Gill has 994 at an average of 31 only. His last fifty-plus score came in March only; 128 against Australia in Ahmedabad.

India wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik has questioned his place now. “Shubman Gill is the big question mark here. He has not lived up to the expectations that people have. I think even he would be aware that if you are going to average mid-30s or early-30s after having played 20 Tests, then you would consider yourself to be a bit lucky to be around. His place will definitely be under the scanner if he doesn’t have a great Test match in the next one,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.

Sarfaraz in Place of..?

Karthik even went on to say that India is missing Sarfaraz Khan, who has been exceptional in the domestic circuit but hasn’t gotten a chance till now.

“The only middle-order name that we are missing out on is Sarfaraz Khan. I have no doubt that he will make it to the squad much sooner than he thinks right now. Other than that, you do not have any other names doing the round in the middle order right now. Rajat Patidar is a very, very strong name that I think they will be looking at very soon,” said the Karthik.
