India commenced their West Indies tour on a commanding note, as they secured a resounding victory in the first match against the Windies, triumphing by an innings and a massive 141 runs. The standout performance of the match came from the debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal, whose brilliant knock of 171 runs played a pivotal role in India’s triumph. Jaiswal’s remarkable innings showcased his immense talent and potential.

Furthermore, Ravichandran Ashwin once again demonstrated his prowess in the longest format of the game, showcasing his skills as India’s premier spinner. Ashwin’s exceptional performance yielded an impressive tally of 12 wickets in the opening Test, cementing his reputation as one of the finest spinners in the world.

Former captain Virat Kohli also played a crucial role in India’s victory. Kohli’s batting skills were on display as he formed a vital partnership with the emerging opener Jaiswal, contributing a noteworthy 76 runs off 182 balls. Kohli’s innings demonstrated his ability to anchor the innings and provide stability to the team.

On the contrary, the home side struggled to make an impact throughout the match, particularly due to their lackluster batting display. Their inability to counter India’s bowling attack cost them dearly in the contest. All eyes are now eagerly focused on the upcoming second Test, scheduled to commence on July 20th at the prestigious Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago.
