WATCH: Team India emphasise on slip fielding ahead of IND vs SA 1st Test

The Indian cricket team practiced drills to sharpen their slip catching skills ahead of the IND vs SA 1st Test match.

IND vs SA 1st Test: Team India are gearing up to face South Africa in a two-match Test series starting on Tuesday, December 26 in Centurion. India will be led by Rohit Sharma as the team eye their first Test series win in Rainbow Nation.

With pacers set to rule the roost, slip fielding was one of the main focus in India’ training session on Sunday. The team practiced unique drills to sharpen their slip catching skills ahead of the first Test match. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a video where Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal can be seen doing slip catching drills.

Jaiswal also had a close-in catching practice under the guidance of head coach Rahul Dravid. Few players, including Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammad Siraj participated in boundary catching practice in an intense session.

Meanwhile, rain is likely to play a spoilsport on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test. Team India’s final training session on Monday was also cancelled due to heavy rain in Centurion.

A similar weather is expected on Tuesday and a complete washout is likely on Day 1 of the IND vs SA Test.
