Australia take consolation win in IND vs AUS 3rd ODI

Rohit Sharma was invited to take the trophy after IND vs AUS 3rd ODI but the Indian skipper pushed KL Rahul forward to take the trophy.

After sealing the series in Indore, Team India failed to complete the whitewash against Australia as the Men in Blue lost the 3rd and final ODI in Rajkot by 66 runs. Australia’s top-order, led by Mitchell Marsh, starred in the final ODI as half centuries from the top 4 powered Australia to a mammoth 352/7 on board.

While Rohit Sharma (81) and Virat Kohli (56) scored fifties to provide a good platform for middle order, the rest of the batting line-up couldn’t cope with the mounting required run-rate. Glenn Maxwell was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as his 4/40 helped Australia to bundle out India to 286 in 49.4 overs.

The two teams will meet again in 10 days’ time for the World Cup in Chennai on October 8.
