WATCH Nuwan gets in act, Suryakumar Yadav receives best fielder medal

After each of their nine wins at the World Cup 2023, a different player has been awarded the best fielder medal.

After using a robot to deliver the last Best Fielder award, the Indian cricket team’s fielding coach, T Dilip, has found yet another unique method to reward his players. As Rohit Sharma & co. ended the league stage of the World Cup 2023 on a high, beating the Netherlands resoundingly by 160 runs, T Dilip praised the Indian team media manager Kalveer Biradar, strength and conditioning coach Anand Date, and throw-down specialist Nuwan Seneviratne.

T Dilip then took the proceedings downstairs (to the ground) to reveal who would receive the final league stage fielder of the match award.

Dilip introduced the special guests, who revealed the player who will get the award as someone who works tirelessly behind the scenes, Nuwan.

As the whole team came down, the Indian fielding coach appreciated Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, and KL Rahul for their efforts in the IND vs NED match. However, the main reveal came afterward as the groundstaff revealed Surya’s name letter by letter to name him as the best fielder.

Surya was then mobbed by his teammates before Nuwan presented him with the award.

After winning the award, Suryakumar Yadav, while talking about fielding coach T Dilip, said, “He’s been behind me since one year. Finally, I think this is the reward.”

Suryakumar Yadav also thanked the groundsmen, shaking hands with each of them and clicking a picture with them.
