WTC Final: Team India has continued to put pressure on Australia in the final encounter of the World Test Championship being played at the Kennington Oval in London. In the second over after lunch and on the very first ball of his second spell, Mohammed Shami castled the world’s best test batter, Marnus Labuschagne.

Shami was criticised by several fans online and even commentators for bowling a tad too short in the first session of the WTC Final. Shami, however, corrected himself immediately after returning from a lunch break and showed why he is India’s first choice pacer.

Before Australia’s number 3 batter’s dismissal, India had already sent the Aussie openers into the dugout. With Labuschagne gone, aggressive southpaw, Travis Head has come in to bat.

The first session was shared by both teams, as India got rid of both the Aussie openers and Australia replied by scoring 73 runs. David Warner looked in sublime touch and scored eight boundaries. Warner was hitting the ball well on both the front and back foot but missed his half-century by 7 runs after getting strangled down the leg by an innocuous short ball by Shardul Thakur minutes before lunch.

A big reason behind getting Warner’s wicket was great glovework by KS Bharat, who has been chosen ahead of Ishan Kishan to do the keeping duties. Bharat did extremely well in the first hour of the first session when the ball was hooping around and moving swiftly behind the wickets. Bharat’s inclusion isn’t a shock, as the wicketkeeper-batsman has played two games in England prior to this match, one being a practice game and the other being an India A game against the West Indies.
