Ishan Kishan took the Trinidad Test by storm on Day 4. With India in search of quick runs, captain Rohit Sharma promoted Ishan Kishan to number 4 in the IND vs WI 2nd Test. The left-hander came out all guns blazing, scoring his maiden Test half-century. Kishan, who is in the side with Rishabh Pant out injured, used the southpaw’s bat during his whirlwind knock.

Rishabh Pant has been out of action since the start of the year and India has been hurt by his absence. With India still on the hunt for a replacement, Ishan Kishan made his claim with a dazzling half-century. Coming into bat at 4, the left-hander hit the West Indian attack to all parts of the fence. He managed to reach his half-century in just 33 balls, laced with four boundaries and a couple of sixes.

Kishan approached the innings like Rishabh Pant has done on countless occasions in the past. In fact, Ishan batted with Rishabh Pant’s bat during his whirlwind knock. Close up visuals showcased RP 17 written on his bat right below the sponsors’ logo.

Pant and Kishan go a long way. Both were teammates from their U19 days. Even before the IND vs WI series, Pant gave Kishan some advice on his batting. Both were at the NCA, Pant rehabilitating while Kishan was warming up for the series.

“I was at NCA before this. Pant was also there. He knows how I play. We have known each other since under-19 days. I also wanted someone to advise me and luckily he was there to tell me something about my bat positioning,” Kishan said after the day’s play.
