WATCH how Rishabh Pant ‘cried’ and fought back ‘boring and frustrating’ rehab for comeback in IPL 2024

Experts at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) explain what went through Rishabh Pant's head ahead of comeback in IPL 2024

India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant is all set to make a comeback at IPL 2024. The southpaw will make his return after being on the sidelines after a horrific car crash in December 2022.

Rishabh Pant’s comeback: Journey from injury to IPL 2024

The first thing I could notice when he was having severe pain was when a ward boy was trying to push the stretcher through the room. And it slightly hit the wall, which prompted him (Rishabh Pant) to scream with so much pain. It was just a simple jerk, but it was so painful, he cried immediately. Then I realized something big has happened,” Thulasi Yuvraj, a physiotherapist at the NCA reveals.

Rishabh Pant set for keeper-batter role in IPL 2024

Initial speculations hinted at Pant’s limited role, possibly restricting him to batting alone. However, Pant’s unwavering dedication and intensive training regimen have enabled him to pass the BCCI’s fitness criteria, allowing him to feature as both a wicketkeeper and a batsman.

Delhi Capitals celebrated Pant’s return with an elegant video, underscoring the significance of this development.

Pant’s resurgence not only bolsters the Delhi Capitals’ prospects but also fuels optimism regarding his potential inclusion in the Indian Cricket Team for the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup in North America. Pant’s performance in the IPL will serve as a pivotal factor in determining his place in the national squad, with hopes high for him to continue his stellar form.
