The speculation around Hardik Pandya’s homecoming to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans in the last few days have been a constant topic of discussion among experts and general public. It finally happened on Monday, with the Indian Premier League (IPL) team announcing the return of the all-rounder in a trade deal with the Titans. For the first time since redonning the Mumbai franchise’s jersey, Hardik Pandya sat down for a chat with the Mumbai Indians media team.
The all-rounder, who enjoyed thumping success as the captain of the Gujarat Titans in the last two seasons of IPL, talked about the feeling of returning ‘home’, his close bond with the Ambani family and also had a message for the fans.
After making his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in 2015, Hardik played seven season for the most successful IPL team before joining Gujarat Titans in 2022. He led the debutants to the IPL trophy in their first season. He kept up his good record in 2023 too, helping the Gujarat outfit to the finals before losing to Chennai Super Kings.
In the interview that Mumbai Indians shared on social media, Hardik shared his happiness to join the team where his cricketing journey started.
“The feeling of coming back to Mumbai is special for a lot of reasons. My journey started with Mumbai in 2015…It has not sunk in yet that finally I’m back,” Hardik said.
Hardik also talked about his closeness with MI’s franchise owners Ambani family. “I have a special bond with Akash and the whole (Ambani) family. They have been with me through my thick and thin,” Hardik added.

Hardik also had a special message for the MI fans. “Looking forward to create some great moments with the boys, Mere hardik swagat ke liye thank you,” Hardik signed off.
