Good news for Punjab Kings fans as Glenn Maxwell is back in form. In a BBL match, he smashed 76 off 32 balls for Melbourne Stars.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is approaching in a few months and Punjab Kings fans must be happy right now, Glenn Maxwell seems to be back in form. Recently, in a Big Bash League (BBL) match between the Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes, Glenn Maxwell smashed 76 runs off just 32 balls for the Stars. His outstanding performance came in a crucial match against the Hobart Hurricanes as the Stars sought a spot in the Big Bash League finals. Talking about IPL, once the RCB star Maxwell joined Punjab Kings as the team bought him in the IPL 2025 auction held in November last week.

Back-to-back sixes thrill the crowd

Maxwell thrilled the fans at the MCG by hitting six sixes, including three consecutive ones in the penultimate over off Cameron Gannon. His aggressive batting and ability to identify scoring opportunities left everyone in awe.

Contributions from fellow players

Melbourne Stars posted a commanding total of 219/5 against Hobart Hurricanes. Glenn Maxwell was in great form, scoring an unbeaten 76 off just 32 balls, alongside contributions from Beau Webster (51) and Marcus Stoinis (32). The Stars maintained an aggressive run rate of 10.95 throughout their innings. In response, by the time of writing Hobart Hurricanes struggled at 53/3 in 4.5 overs, needing 167 runs more to win off 91 balls. Mark Steketee bowled effectively for the Stars, taking 3 wickets for just 8 runs. Despite Mitchell Owen’s brisk 37, Hurricanes face an uphill battle to reach the target.

Maxwell Returns to Punjab Kings for IPL 2025

This IPL season will be exciting for Glenn Maxwell as he joins Punjab Kings again, signing for ₹4.2 crores in the 2025 mega auction. At 36, Maxwell has played 134 IPL games, scoring 2771 runs with a strike rate of 156.73 and taking 37 wickets with an economy of 8.28. This season is special for him because he has fond memories with Punjab Kings from 2014, when he played brilliantly and helped the team reach the IPL finals, marking their best performance to date.
