Virender Sehwag’s elder son Aaryavir Sehwag fires bidding war at DPL 2025 auction, to play for Central Delhi Kings for Rs 8 lac

Aaryavir Sehwag was player number 19 from Category B at DPL auction.

The Delhi Premier League (DPL) inaugural season in 2024 was a huge success. The next season, however, has added more star power and relative names of some blockbuster names. Going into the DPL mega auction on July 6, one of the most anticipated moments was the coups of Virender Sehwag’s son.

While his younger son unfortunately went unsold, but the elder one attracted a huge bidding war at the mega auction. Placed at a base price of Rs 3 lac, Aaryavir Sehwag’s name came in the Category B and instantly attracted a bid.

The were the South Delhi Superstarz first one to raise the paddle for the star son. Soon, the West Delhi Lions joined the bandwagon, starting a bidding war. Then came the Central Delhi Kings, who already bagged the costliest player of the auction Simarjeet Singh (Rs 39 lac).

Ultimately, CDK swayed away all the competition to win the exciting player for Rs 9 lac.

Who is Aaryavir Sehwag?

Sehwag’s elder son Aaryavir Sehwag, just 17-year-old, is a superb budding talent. Opening for Delhi U‑19 against Meghalaya in Shillong, Aaryavir blazed his way to an unbeaten 200 off 229 balls, smashing 34 fours and 2 sixes in the Cooch Behar Trophy. He put on a dominant 180-run partnership with Arnav Bugga, who went to North Delhi Strikers earlier in the auction.

The following day, he continued his assault, scoring 297 with 51 fours and 3 sixes—just three runs short of a rare U‑19 triple century.
