India’s 2008 U-19 World Cup-winning squad, led by Virat Kohli, had a lot of young talents who have since made their mark in cricket. In the 2008 U-19 World Cup final, Srivastava stood out with a composed 46 runs at No. 3, helping India win against South Africa. Who is Tanmay Srivastava?

After retiring from professional cricket five years ago, Srivastava has been officiating in domestic matches. He started umpiring with women’s cricket inter-zonal matches. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now appointed him as an umpire for the upcoming IPL season. The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) celebrated this, saying “A true player never leaves the field—just changes the game. Wishing Tanmay Srivastava the best as he dons a new hat with the same passion!”

Srivastava’s cricket journey

While Srivastava’s IPL playing stint was brief, he represented Kings XI Punjab in 2008 and 2009 with limited success. However, he had a decent domestic career, where he scored 4918 runs in 90 first-class matches.

The IPL 18th season is starting on 22nd March, where Virat Kohli’s RCB will be taking on against defending champions KKR in the first match of the season.
