Virat Kohli joined the rest of the Delhi team for practice on Tuesday ahead of the final league match of Ranji Trophy

The wait is over as Virat Kohli joined the Delhi team for practice at the Arun Jaitley stadium on Tuesday. The former Indian skipper will return to Ranji Trophy for the first time in 12 years in the game against Railways on January 30. Kohli missed the first game of the second leg against Saurashtra citing a neck sprain.

Virat Kohli arrives for practice with Delhi team

Kohli was seen doing warm-up with the rest of the team at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. Prior o his arrival at the national capital, he was seen training with ex-India batting coach Sanjay Bangar. He was reportedly working on his back foot shots as he aims to cut down on the outside off-stump trouble that plagued him in Australia.

One of the primary reasons for the King to return to domestic red-ball cricket is to improve his problems with outside off-stump which cost him his wicket on all eight occasions in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Besides, his form over the last four years in Tests has been miserable, seeing his average dip below 50 for the first time in his career. Kohli’s last Ranji Trophy match was against Uttar Pradesh in Ghaziabad’s Mohan Nagar in 2012.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant – who played in DEL vs SAU – has opted out of the match against Railways. The southpaw only managed to score 1 and 17 in two innings as he returned to the tournament after a gap of seven years.
