India U19 batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scripted history. Just days after scoring the third fastest fifty in the format, the batter has now smashed the fastest hundred in the history of youth ODIs. IND U19 are already 2-1 up in the five-match series against England U19, having won the 1st and the 3rd game.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes record hundred
Suryavanshi took just 52 deliveries to get to the triple figure mark in the 4th youth ODI against England U19. His knock was studded with 14 fours and 10 sixes before he was sent packing by Ben Mayes. England won the toss and opted to bowl first in the contest. Vaibhav narrowly fell short of a well-deserved 150 as he was dismissed for 143 runs.
In the previous game, Vaibhav took just 14 deliveries to reach the half-century mark. He also went past Suresh Raina who previously held the record for the fastest 80-run knock in U19 ODI history.
That’s not all. Suryavanshi’s knock was the fourth fastest fifty and the second by an Indian after Rishabh Pant in Youth ODIs. He smashed the most sixes hit by an Indian in U19 ODI for India, surpassing previous record holder Mandeep Singh who had 8 sixes to his name.
