IND vs IRE: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is in line to become the youngest Indian -- at 15y and 91d, to make a debut for the country.

Generally, you don’t expect much from IND vs IRE matches. It just serves as a precursor to the IND vs ENG series.. this time too it happens to be scheduled before the England series, but then something is different in the build up to the Ireland series too. The anticipation is growing around the debut of teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and that could eventually result in massive crowds flocking to the Stormont Stadium, Belfast.

Fans eager to watch Vaibhav Sooryavanshi play

If former IND & IRE cricketer MV Narasimha Rao is to be believed, there are many from Europe who want to witness the match live. And the organisers might just have to come up with some extra seats, since the Belfast Stadium can sit only 7,000. “I think they (local organisers) will have to put more seats because this stadium (Stormont ground) has only 7000 seats or something. Already, people from other parts of Europe like Paris etc want to come, hopefully, we can find a way to accommodate them,” Rao told PTI from Strabane, Ireland.

For Rao, it would be a landmark occasion for the Irish fans as well. “So, I think it will be history, a momentous day if he makes his debut in Ireland. It was unexpected, and in the last 10 days, it’s really a big excitement here,” he added.

Real test awaits in England

The veteran cricketer felt that the wickets in Belfast could suit Sooryavanshi style of batting, but was quick to remind, that the actual test might come in England. “He may enjoy batting as the wickets here are generally slow and Ireland doesn’t have the same kind of fast bowlers, you know, with pace,” he said.

“But once he goes to England, it’ll be a big test for him because the ball moves there and weather too changes even in the short duration of a T20. But I wish him a good series,” he added.
