Usman Khawaja’s wife pens heartfelt note for David Warner ahead of retirement

Warner and Khawaja have been childhood friends, having come up through the ranks of Australian cricket together.

Usman Khawaja’s wife Rachel Khawaja on Tuesday posted an emotional note for David Warner ahead of his final Test in Baggy Green colours. Australia will take on Pakistan in 3rd Test of the three-match series and it will the last time David Warner and Usman Khawaja open for the Aussies.

Warner and Khawaja have been childhood friends, having come up through the ranks of Australian cricket together. So it is not a surprise that it will be an emotional moment for the two Aussie batters, specially with both their families sharing a close bond.

Rachel Khawaja on Tuesday reflected on the friendship of Warner and Khawaja that has lasted over 31 years in an Instagram post.

“This next game is going to be a special one. A friendship that has been going for 31 years, from childhood mates to opening the batting together for your country. Safe to say emotions will be high this week when we watch you walk out to bat together for one last time!!

“Candice and Dave are some of the most amazing people you will ever meet and we are so grateful for their friendship. Dave is one of the all time greats of the game and it’s been an honour to be a small part of his incredible journey,” she wrote along with a picture of the two families.
