Upgrade of Punjab Kings home ground Mullanpur Cricket Stadium complete, roof installed for IPL 2025

The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) had received criticism after fans suffered in the heat last year as no roof had been installed in the stadium that was created in 2021.

Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) home ground, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, also known as the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium, has completed its upgrade before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. PBKS will play four of their seven home matches in New Chandigarh.

Last season they hosted five matches and received criticism as no roof was installed. In the summer the heat was unbearable, and had it rained, the crowd wouldn’t have had any cover. The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) took the criticism in stride, and in January they announced canopies will be installed to accommodate spectators.

“The tenders for installing the canopies was done a few months ago. The work in this direction is already in progress, and we are hoping to add this soon,” PCA secretary Dilsher Khanna had said.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for the IPL 2025 season on February 16. Although Punjab Kings will open their campaign on March 25 against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, their first home game will be played on April 5 against the Rajasthan Royals.
