Less than 24 hours are left before the India vs Bangladesh match, nothing no one knows which pitch will used for the ICC Champions Trophy game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The first images of the pitches are out. For the unaware, there are ten strips (pitches) there in Dubai.
2 fresh pitches for India’s matches
In normal circumstances, any of them could have been used. However, 15 matches were played in Dubai in the ILT20, and not too long ago, two fresh pitches were kept for the ICC Champions Trophy. That means Team India will play their three group-stage matches and potential knockout games on new/fresh surfaces.
“There are 10 match strips at the DICS. During the league stage, there was specific instruction that those two won’t be used now and needed to be kept fresh for the Champions Trophy. However, whether any of the two was used for the playoffs isn’t known. The idea is to ensure that it doesn’t become low and slow after overuse and matches become a drag. The fresh pitches will aid the batters and bowlers in equal measure,” a PTI source had said a couple of days ago.

How will the Dubai pitch behave?
The new images have emerged, and the one on the extreme right seems to be the one the ICC is preparing for the India vs. Bangladesh match. While it’s not certain, the fact that the roller was being used on the pitch seems to be an indication of the surface that’ll be used.
Of course, the real question is how the pitches will behave. Team India is taking five spinners and just four pacers (including Hardik Pandya). They’ll hope the pitches are spin-friendly, but Bangladesh has great tweakers themselves. If the surface helps batters, Team India would be satisfied as they have the best batting line-up of any team in the world.
