Trouble for Hanuma Vihari, served show-cause notice by Andhra Cricket Association

Hanuma Vihari has played 16 Tests for India, and scored over 800 runs till now, and remains a prolific scorer in domestic cricket.

A few weeks after India batsman Hanuma Vihari accused the Andhra Cricket Association of wrongly removing him from the captaincy role of the state team, the body has served a show-cause notice to him. Meanwhile, Vihari is yet to respond to the legal notice.

“Yes, we have served him a show-cause notice, and we are awaiting his reply,” an ACA official said. The official though clarified, that they didn’t want to prolong the issue. “This is just to find what made him react the way he did last month. He has not reached out to us, so this is a chance for him to come out with his grievances.

“After all, we value Vihari and his contributions to the growth of state cricket, as he has played a big part in Andhra going up in the ranks in domestic cricket,” he added.

Hanuma Vihari vs ACA

It all started during Andhra’s quarter-final loss to MP in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy. Vihari made allegations that the ACA removed his from captaincy right after the first match of the season. Earlier, he too had cited personal reasons, for moving away from captaincy.

Later, in an Instagram post, he wrote, “I have decided that I will never play for Andhra where I lost my self-respect.”
