“Tricky wickets, no excuses”: Rajat Patidar calls out RCB’s home struggles

RCB have struggled at home this season, losing all three matches. Captain Rajat Patidar believes the team must adapt to the conditions.

In the IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar has acknowledged that the Chinnaswamy Stadium pitches have been challenging this season. However, he emphasized that this isn’t an excuse for their poor home performance. RCB has enjoyed a fantastic IPL campaign so far, winning all five of their away matches. Unfortunately, they have lost all three games at home.

Facing Challenges at Home

RCB will aim for their first home win against Rajasthan Royals on April 24. Speaking before the match, Patidar admitted that his team hasn’t played well at home and needs to adjust quickly to the conditions. He said, “We have not played good cricket in our home matches and you have talked about the toss, it’s not in my hand, so, let’s see. And this time wickets are a bit tricky and unpredictable over here, but that is not an excuse. So, we’ll try to adapt the situation and condition as quick as possible.”

Focus on Performance, Not The Toss

Patidar stressed that the focus should be on adapting to the conditions rather than worrying about the toss. He explained, “It is not that if you lose the toss, half the battle is lost because the toss is not in our control. But as a player, if you have to bat first, you would always try to do the best you can in such a situation and conditions. So, we are trying to focus more on that aspect and not on the toss.”

Staying Present and Learning from Mistakes

Regarding their success away from home, Patidar mentioned the importance of living in the present and learning from past mistakes. He noted, “For us, I think it is about being in the present moment because in this league, you have back-to-back matches. So, it’s important to learn from the past and learn from the errors. And we don’t keep talking about our home matches that we have lost, and we focus on the present as much as possible, which is more important. We always try to do the best on that day.”
