Shane Warne has expressed his concerns surrounding the form of Mitchell Starc as Australia continue their preparations for the upcoming Ashes 2021-22 against England. Starc picked up only 11 wickets in four matches at an average of 40.72 against India earlier this year ane his form at the T20 World Cup was also dismal to say the least.
Warne has long been critical of the 31-year-old, and believes young Jhye Richardson should be named in the playing XI. Australia’s leading wicket taker in Tests, Warne said, “He (Lyon) had a poor summer last year, so did Mitchell Starc. He (Starc) needs to find a bit of rhythm and some form.”
He added, “He had a really poor World Cup. He’s just not bowling well enough. It’s too important at the Gabba. I’m all for Jhye Richardson (replacing Starc in the team). “

Starc has time and again proved his critics wrong in his 61 Test career, picking up 255 wickets in the whites. However x his form and preparation for the Ashes have not been up to scratch, with very less red ball practice afforded to the entire squad.
The Australian squad were set to play a three-day warm up game with the A team in Queensland, but the match looks extremely unlikely to happen due to wet weather conditions. Starc last played red ball cricket during the Sheffield Shield, while his international action dates back to India’s tour Down Under.
