Before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, almost every team has decided on their captain for the upcoming season. However, two teams—Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC)—are yet to announce their captains.
In the IPL, some captains have left a lasting legacy, leading their franchises to multiple titles. On the other hand, some unfortunate teams have frequently changed their captains but have still failed to win an IPL title.

Punjab Kings have changed most captains
Punjab Kings (PBKS) have changed 17 captains in IPL history; it is the most by any team. Still, they have the worst campaign in the tournament’s history with no title win. They have also qualified for the playoffs only two times.
Delhi Capitals had 13 captains over the years, and they will change another one this season as well, so it will be 14. They are also trying to win an IPL trophy and waiting for one. This time they have a good team and an effective and strategic leader.
Interestingly, MI have also changed a lot of captains, but they won all of their trophies under one captain, Rohit Sharma. CSK is the second team with the most IPL titles, and they have only changed four captains, with Dhoni being their permanent captain till 2024.
