Back in 2023, for the ODI World Cup final, Team India had stayed at the ITC Narmada.

Are the ghosts of Ahmedabad reappearing for Team India? Although the Men in Blue have a stellar record, 7-3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in T20I cricket, Suryakumar Yadav’s team isn’t taking any chances prior to the 2026 T20 World Cup final against New Zealand on March 8.

That loss to Australia on November 19 in the 2023 ODI World Cup final continues to haunt fans. But are the cricketers carrying the scars it as well? The Men in Blue want to strip away anything that reminds them of that unfateful night.

Team India avoiding bad luck

That’s why Team India has opted for a change of hotel and dressing room. In a conversation with News18, veteran journalist Vimal Kumar shared the information. Back in 2023, India had played at the ITC Narmada, and we all know how that resulted.

Going into the T20 World Cup final, India doesn’t want to stay there again. The Men in Blue have been superstitious of late. Recently, they chose to avoid practicing during the lunar eclipse. For the same reason, Vimal stated that they’ll switch to the visitors’ dressing room.

“Nobody knows this. I am revealing this for the first time. A lot of people are afraid that Ahmedabad is an unlucky ground for India. India team delayed their practice due to a lunar eclipse in Mumbai; they have been spiritual. In Ahmedabad, the Indian team will not stay in the same hotel as the 2023 ODI World Cup final. India is also going to change their dressing room. They will be using the visiting team’s dressing room. There’s one more change, but I cannot say it now. Maybe I will reveal if India wins the T20 World Cup,” Vimal said.

According to Firstpost, Vimal’s information is correct. But the basis of his incorrectness. The ICC had already confirmed ITC Narmada for the first finalist, which was New Zealand in this case. Therefore, India couldn’t have stayed there. The switch to Taj Skyline is nothing but coincidental.

Furthermore, the supposed request to switch dressing rooms, leaving the host one for visitors, can’t be confirmed either. Perhaps that’s what India has opted for. We’ll know soon when India actually practices at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the T20 World Cup final.
