Talk of ICC white-ball events, there is no one better than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Including the Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have won the most matches in ICC white-ball events.

You know, in winning the Champions Trophy 2025, Team India has created a list of records that might not be able surpassed by anyone, anytime soon. Under Rohit Sharma, the side won their second consecutive ICC Trophy, after the T20 World Cup in 2024. And that in itself is quite remarkable. But that is only start of the story.

Joint Second Most ICC Trophies by Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli

That means, that both Virat Kohli and Rohit now hold the highest ICC Trophies by any Indian. Starting with Virat, he has won the 2011 World Cup, followed by the 2013 Champions Trophy, then after a bit of a lull came the 2024 T20 World Cup, and now the 2025 Champions Trophy. As for Rohit, the first one was way back in 2007, where India won the inaugural T20 World Cup, followed by the CT 2013, and then 2024 T20 World Cup, and then the CT 2025.

That also means, they are in the joint-second position as far as the hold the most ICC Trophies is concerned. And top of the pile is Australia’s Ricky Ponting, who had won 5. WCs in 1999, 2003, and 2007, and CT titles in 2006 and 2009. But does that mean, Ponting is the greatest ever in ICC events?

Ro-Ko Duo Have Most Wins Ever

Perhaps not. In all the white-ball ICC tournaments, once again, Virat and Rohit are the most successful, even more than Ponting. Let’s us tell you how. Including the 2011 WC, the 2013 CT, 2015 WC, 2019 WC, 2023 WC, 2025 CT, and all the T20 World Cup editions, Virat Kohli has played 90 matches, and won 72 of those matches.

Similarly, out of the 90 ICC white-ball event matches played by Rohit Sharma, he has won 70 of those. In third place is Mahela Jayawardene, who has won 57 from 93 played, followed by Kumar Sangakkara at 56 from 90 encounters. Ravindra Jadeja occupies the next spot with 52 wins in 66 matches, followed by MS Dhoni, 52 in 78 matches. Ponting has 52 wins in 70 matches.

So Virat Kohli’s win% goes up to 80, while Rohit Sharma’s is 77. Jaddu sits pretty at 78%, while MS Dhoni is a little low at 66. Ricky Ponting has a win% of 74, in these matches.
