“Kohli is a family man now and has a daughter. He would now want to focus more on his family life,” he said during Geo News programme Jashan-e-Cricket.

“Kohli will now save energy for ODIs and Tests,” he added.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq also shed light on his views regarding Kohli’s exit as T20I captain.

“Things changed even before T20 World Cup Kohli had announced that this will be his last T20 series as a captain. As a player, I can tell that Kohli wasn’t comfortable with the team and the environment of the dressing room was not stable. You could clearly see two groups — a Mumbai group and a Dehli group,” he said.

Virat Kohli & Co match against Namibia will bring an end to a chapter in Indian Cricket.  The Men in Blue might have failed to qualify for the semifinals but run-machine Virat Kohli will go down as one of the best captains of the shortest format. After overtaking reigns from MS Dhoni, Kohli took India to new heights in his 4+ years of service since taking reigns in 2017.

  • Kohli will play Namibia as captain in his 50th T20I match against Namibia on November 8, Monday. He has so far led in 49 T20s where he guided Team India to victories in 29 matches with a win percentage of 63.82 (Better than MS Dhoni – 59.28%).
  • Most wins by captains in T20Is: Kohli (29), only MS Dhoni, Eoin Morgan (41 wins) are ahead.
  • Kohli has the second most fifties as captain in T20Is.
  • As a captain in T20Is, he guided India to victories in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries, a remarkable achievement.
