Stuart Broad wants ICC to look into the WTC Points table structure after England came down heavily on the points

Stuart Broad: Stuart Broad is unimpressed after International Cricket Council (ICC) docked England 19 points for slow over-rate after Ashes 2023. In the updated World Test Championship (WTC) points table for the 2023-25 cycle, England’s PCT is 15, while Australia are placed third with 30. Pat Cummins & Co were docked 10 points for slow rate. Broad feels that drastic point reduction reduces the relevance of WTC points table and has urged ICC to look into the matter.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Broad said, “It diminishes the relevance of the World Test Championship, to be honest. It’s been one of the most entertaining series of all time, and for England to come out with nine points from a possible 60, the system’s wrong and needs looking at.”

The Ashes 2023 ended 2-2, but England’s heavy point deduction could play a crucial part in them not making it to the finals of the current WTC cycle.

Stuart Broad: Broad begins second innings, joins commentary panel for The Hundred

After hanging his boots after Ashes 2023 series, Broad did not take backseat as he began the commentary panel in the ongoing Hundred. The former England pacer was given a rousing welcome by Dinesh Karthik as he took to Twitter and said,

“Welcome to this side Broad.” The former England pacer also eased into the new role by interviewing Shaheen Afridi after the Pakistani superstar’s first match in Hundred.

Shaheen’s uncanny knack for picking wickets in the first over also earned him huge praise from Broad, who feels the left-arm pacer is the best bowler in the World.

“Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of my favorite bowlers to watch in the world. He’s got such a presence about him when he runs in, and I love to see bowlers run in with energy and vibrancy to their run-up. He’s got such a natural skill – the way that ball swings back into the right-handers is such a pleasure to watch. And he represented the Notts Outlaws this summer, which is close to my heart. He’s one of the bowlers I admire hugely, and I want to see him do well,” he said.
