Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021: Mumbai vs Baroda – Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw displayed splendid performances to help Mumbai put up a respectable total of 193 and defeat Baroda by 82 runs in Elite Group E of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. While chasing the target of 194, Baroda were restricted to 111 in 20 overs by Mumbai bowlers. Mumbai has won three matches in the group stage, while Baroda could manage only 1 win in SMAT 2021.
After opting to bowl first, Baroda couldn’t do any justice to their bowling as they were hammered by Mumbai’s Prithvi Shaw and captain Ajinkya Rahane. Shaw (83 off 63 balls) and Rahane (71 off 45 balls) shared a brilliant partnership stand of 151 runs. After Prithvi Shaw’s wicket, Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube (23* off 9 balls) added 28 runs to their partnership to take Mumbai’s total to 179 in 19 overs. Dube and Aman Hakim Khan (5* off 3 balls) put up a total of 193 runs on the board with their 14-run partnership in the final over. Baroda’s Atit Sheth and Ninad Rathva scalped one wicket each.

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021: Mumbai vs Baroda – In response to the target of 194 set by Mumbai, Baroda had a moderate start to their innings. In the first six overs of their game, they put up a total of 44 runs and lost three wickets. Thereafter, Baroda were struggling with the bowling attack of Mumbai, especially Siddhesh Lad, Mohit Avasthi and Tanush Kotian. By the end of 16 overs, Baroda scored only 90 runs. In the final overs, they added only 21 runs to the total of 111/9. Tanush Kotian scalped 4 wickets off 16 runs in 4 overs.
