Asian Games 2023: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are set to announce support staff of the Women’s team before Asian Games. Amol Mazumdar is tipped to be the coach for the two years. BCCI will soon make an official announcement. Along with Mazumdar, there will also be batting, fielding, and bowing coaches for Harmanpreet Kaur & Co.

“The CAC has recommended the name of a head coach. They will also interview. They will also interview a batting and bowling coach. We will announce the names of all coaches before the Asian Games,” Jay Shah added.

Asian Games 2023: BCCI soon to make an official announcement on Amol Mazumdar, support staff members

India tour of Bangladesh is about to begin on June 9, with Harmanpreet Kaur & Co playing three T20Is and ODIs. Mazumdar won’t travel with the team and hence BCCI’s delay in the announcement. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) is impressed with Mazumdar’s presentation and has recommended him as a coach to BCCI. After the completion of the Bangladesh tour, team India will play Asian Games in China.

Earlier BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed in April that the Indian women’s team will get full support staff, BCCI also sent out advertisements for various positions. Jay Shah also said that the coaches will help realize the true potential of the women’s team.

“We will soon issue advertisements for various positions for Team India (Senior Women) support staff. Best coaches will be roped in to help our players realise their full potential and achieve excellence on and off the field,” Jay Shah said in a tweet.

Over the last two years, Harmanpreet Kaur & Co have performed well, managing to reach the finals of the T20 World Cup 2020, Semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022, and finishing as silver medallist in the commonwealth games. However, the elusive trophy has eluded the team. This year India has a chance to end the trophy drought with Asian Games.
