For the unversed Rahul copped a blow on his right thigh during LSG vs RCB game on May 1 in IPL 2023 season. After the setback, the right-hand batter underwent surgery on his right thigh in London. Upon returning to India, Rahul is currently rehabilitating in NCA and setting sights on his Asia Cup return.

KL Rahul: BCCI provides a huge update on KL Rahul’s recovery says the wicketkeeper batter should be fit within one month

BCCI has provided an update on Rahul saying the LSG skipper will be fit within one month’s time. The board is optimistic that Rahul will be fit for Asia Cup. “Rahul’s recovery is going well. He should be fit in a month or so. Return from surgery is always tricky, and he is a very important player for World Cup. Iyer’s progress is slow, but we are still hopeful that he will recover by World Cup. But at this moment, it’s not a certainty with Iyer,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

If before Asia Cup Rahul is fit then the wicketkeeper batter could very well be in the scheme of things for the Ireland tour. BCCI wants Rahul to play some ODI games before the World Cup. However, BCCI does not want the right-hand batter to feature in practice games at NCA which will happen next month. Asia Cup will be most likely wherein Rahul will make a comeback.

“Ideally, we would want him to play some matches going into World Cup. Asia Cup is the perfect platform. But if he is 100% fit, Ireland is where we can see his fitness. It all depends on how he recovers. With Iyer we have to give him time,” the official added.

While Rahul may be out of the T20 team, he is still a vital member of the 50-over format. Over the past year, the LSG skipper has cemented his place in the team as the wicketkeeper batter with an average of 45.
