The KKR-CSK Rivalry: Although the rivalry between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) isn’t talked-about as it once was, they used to be ferocious opponents on the field. KKR challenged CSK’s hegemony under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir. The pressure-applying techniques used by Gambhir on MS Dhoni are still widely remembered.
In the 2012 IPL final between these two teams, KKR triumphed by successfully chasing down the enormous 191-run target. Their victory over Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) in the championship match was a repeat of their triumph in 2014. Dhoni continues to lead CSK and will play in IPL 2023, whilst Gambhir has officially retired from the IPL.
IPL 2023: MS Dhoni’s Last Season? IPL 2023 will see CSK and KKR resume their rivalry. If Dhoni calls it quits, this might be the final IPL season he plays in, closing a chapter in the KKR-CSK rivalry. KKR have a purse of Rs 7.05 crore going into the auction. KKR were unable to advance in the IPL 2022 second round.
CSK will be participating in the mini-auction with a budget of Rs 20.45 crore. Additionally, they failed to go past the league stage round and were eliminated early for the second time in history.
