Sri Lanka squad for World Cup announced, Hasaranga & Chameera ruled out

Sri Lanka have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming World Cup. Hasaranga and Chameera are ruled out of the tournament.

Sri Lanka Cricket on September 26 (Tuesday) announced their World Cup squad starting on October 5. In a big blow, for the Islanders, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera have also been ruled out of the competition. However, ace spinner Maheesh Theekshana has been added to the squad while all-rounder Chamika Karunaratane has been added as travelling reserve.

Sri Lanka will face South Africa in their Opening Match in WC

Dasun Shanaka and Co. will open its ODI World Cup 2023 campaign against South Africa in Delhi on October 7. The 1996 Cricket World Cup champion came through the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament held in Zimbabwe. The other team to qualify for the World Cup through the Qualifiers is Netherlands.
