Against Sri Lanka, he did not get to bat but he proved enough that he could be trusted with the ball too. With Krunal Pandya struggling, Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar will be competing for a place in the T20 World Cup.
“It was a good innings, my role was to go big in the last five overs, disappointed that I couldn’t do that. But happy with 170. Myself and Rahul bhai were well set and we were scoring easily. Rahul told me, ‘it was a good wicket, take your time and play straight-batted shots.’ Self-confidence and self-belief are high. I treat every game as a new one. It’s a decent total. If you are bowling at a good pace, the ball is skidding and keeping low,” Deepak Hooda said after the knock.
