Contrary to all the expectations, Sunrisers Hyderabad were pathetic in their third game, at their second home in Visakhapatnam. A batting line up that is fancied to get 300 in an innings in IPL 2025, just succumbed to a paltry total of 163 and could not even play out their full 20 overs. But much of that credit has to go with the way Axar Patel’s team bowled and fielded.
DC batted well too, and vice versa, SRH were poor with the ball as well. So, there was just no match between the two sides as Delhi went to their second straight win in as many matches. InsideSport takes a look at player ratings for both the teams.
SRH Player Ratings
Abhishek Sharma (1/10): The all-rounder has failed thrice in the IPL this year, and vs DC, was run out for 1 by Vipraj Nigam. In three matches he has scored only 31 runs. In his two overs, he conceded 18 runs.
Travis Head (3/10): The Aussie got 22 from 12 but then once again failed to get a big one in a winning cause. He was responsible for Sharma run out too. A lot more is expected from the dasher, and his failure means team’s collective failure.
Nitish Reddy & Ishan Kishan (0/10): Nothing but a zero for the duo who failed to get any sort of runs. Reddy in fact was out for a duck with an irresponsible shot. He isn’t bowling too. On the other hand, Kishan after his 100 in the opening match has looked out of sorts.
Zeeshan Ansari (7/10): To be the only wicket-taker in his IPL debut, speaks volumes of his talent. Zeeshan ended with figures of 3/42 in his four overs, but that wasn’t enough for SRH on the day.
Aniket Verma (8/10): This season SRH seem to have unleashed a new six-hitting machine in Aniket Verma. Prior to DC match he had only hit sixes; and now vs DC he went on to get his first fifty — 74 from 41. He would have liked to continue though.
DC Player Ratings
Mitchell Starc (10/10): The 35-year-old Aussie got to his first ever fifer in the IPL. He ended with figures of 5/35 and that just laid the foundation for DC win.
Kuldeep Yadav (8/10): 3/22 meant not only Kuldeep put the brakes on scoring but also gave support to Starc, who was breathing fire. This DC attack looks very potent for now, courtesy of these two bowlers.
Jake Fraser McGurk (5/10): After SRH were all out for 163, he started rather slowly, but picked up pace to score 38 from 32. He should have finished the game for his side.
Faf du Plessis (8/10): The vice-captain not only shone, but also scored 27-ball fifty. He is defying age with his ageless batting. A lot more would be expected out of him in the next few matches.
Abhishek Porel (7/10): Even though it was an easy chase in the end, but Porel did play a little cameo with 34 from 18 deliveries, including two fours and two sixes. His services will be needed in matches to come.
